At work dealing with people isn’t so bad cuz its your JOB to keep your cool. But outside of work, when I run into a group of assholes I’ve known for a while they give me crap and I get so nervous I can’t take it. How do you deal with cocky, troublemakers when there is a group of them and only one of you… and whats ur attitude toward them?

OK, it basically sucks, I know, cos if you try and hit one then they ALL get involved….etc etc. You want to try and ignore them, or you can try saying, "Look, guys, just drop this ok"…however they sound slightly thick and lacking in the brains and reasoning department so Im guessing that wont work. You could of course rally one of them so he shoves you in a public place, fall backwards extremely melodramatically and sue him for all he’s got shouting to high heaven, "he pushed me, he pushed me!".
Just a couple of ideas there! hope it helps. xxxx

Ignore them. Don’t give them the satisfaction of getting mad…they’re just trying to provoke you…they get off on that sh*t. Don’t let them get the best of you. If anything, just walk away from the situation. If the situatio gets way out of hand….like if they say something way out of left field….then you can say something…..or call up your friends for back up. Whatever you do…try to be the better person at first and don’t stoop down to their level if you don’t have to.

I hate bullies of any kind! They are so insecure that they have to be in a crowd to feel important and tough. Ignore them and walk away of course but being intimidated by a group of people is very frightening. My best advice would be not to go out alone and keep away from places that these sort of people frequent. Learn a martial art! Get involved in sports and hang out with a good crowd. If you are not into sports then there are lots of clubs you can join. Find something that organises social events regulary. You’d be surprised how much fun and what great friends you can make this way. All the best. S. Gold Coast. Aust.
