how do you deal with diffult people. any advice.
Whenever feasible, I ignore them. I generally do not like confrontations (both parties usually end up looking like jackasses), but there are times when the situation calls for their behavior to be questioned.

Have thick skin. Don’t take any of it personally, even when it IS personal. Understand that they are miserable creatures. Pray for them. Exit stage left at my earliest opportunity..

Try to be honest…. if you hide your feelings it can turn out to hurt everyone in the long run, especially if they are friends. Using humor about whatever the difficult problems are may help point this out as well.

I avoid them as much as possible. I don’t have time for people like that, my life is too hectic as it is.

I try to rise above whatever petty BS they are doling out and show that I have higher standards and principles than that. It is the best way to show the trolls that they can’t get to you. Plus, it can sometimes make them feel like a dumb-ass when they realize they are being difficult. When they are being bad, look them in the eye, stand up straight and give them the warmest smile you can.

Don’t answer in kind. I’ve found that if I talk softly when they are yelling, they will soften their voice. Some people enjoy the drama of contention. Some people don’t know how to be happy. Some don’t respond no matter what you try. I’ve found that kindness over a period tens to dampen difficult people. Hard to be difficult when someone is being so kind to you.
