difficult dealing with girlfriends 20 yr old son who has anxiety disorder?

Posted By: admin  //  Category: dealing with difficult people

i live with a friend who has a 20 year old that has anxiety disorder. i have been here a year and find it very difficult to deal with. He doesn’t have a job because he has a hard time dealing with people and only drives to where he is familiar. (2 towns). his mom gives him money for gas, food,(he always eats out, never what we cook. i don’t know if it is good enough for him or he is afraid it’’s not fresh enough), she pays his car pmts (700 per month). when he goes over to his girl friends house he calls his mom to follow him home. he sleeps til 2 comes home at 6 and plays video games til 1am. it is very hard for me living with this kid, but i tell myself it is an illness. i think he is taking advantage of his illness and his mom. she is a wonderful person but cannot say no to him.he does nothing around the house except boss his sister around and i mean nothing, no chores no nothing except play his games. i am seriously thinking of leaving this relationship. this is very hard for me. i have talked to her about him getting some responsibilities and she agrees but nothing is done. i think she figures if she give in to him the less problems for her. any ideas, i am lost.

How to deal with people who act characters ?

Posted By: admin  //  Category: dealing with difficult people

It is quite difficult to explain what I want to ask but I will try.
People who act like Mr. Know it all to snob me
a colleague who acts as if he is my supervisor
A manager/boss who acts as if he is the police
An average looking girl who acts as if she is a super model
Mr. nobody acting as if he is a celebrity
get the picture - how can I deal with them.

Dealing with difficult co-workers?

Posted By: admin  //  Category: dealing with difficult people

I’ve been asked before in an interview, how do you handle working with diffdifficult people? I’m really never sure how to answer this question? It took me a while to learn that these people are just unhappy and angry and the only way they can think to deal with their problems is to take it out on their co-workers.
I’ve dealt with a few people throughout the years and thought they were personally attacking me because they just plain didn’t like me. I don’t expect everyone to like me. But I think to keep on aggrivating someone purposely just because you don’t like them, is not the best action. I have a two part question:
1. If the boss knows that there is a difficult person working in the company why do they keep them?
2. How do you answer the question, how do you handle working with a difficult person?

Would it be ok to say…..this is my perspective that this person has personal problems that they don’t know how to deal with and they are taking them to work.

Can you help me deal with difficult people?

Posted By: admin  //  Category: dealing with difficult people

This is long, sorry. Please offer advice if you can:
My department co-owns licenses to a software program with another department at my company. The manager of the other department does not like that we are involved in the program. She is constantly planning meetings and making changes to the program without our input. This has caused us a lot of problems. We do have a process in place whereby both departments are supposed to sign-off on changes, but she bypasses the process. My department follows the correct process, but when we request changes she almost always says no to making the change, usually for no good reason. It’s gotten to the point where my boss no longer even asks for changes, knowing that the other manager will just say no. The problem is that the end users look to me to make the system work for them. How do I get the other manager to follow the process? Is it possible to get her to agree to requested changes? Any advice would be appreciated.

please help!! want to cry..how do deal with difficult people… people with semi-authority? (university)?

Posted By: admin  //  Category: dealing with difficult people

my department hires someone to do our calculations. this person has a position in that he’s the head of his own department, but is unaffiliated with my dept. i’m still a student but im forced to ask him for help (i think its cuz my boss hates him too and would rather let me deal with the guy). our dept pay’s his. since i am young and unfamilar with the other department, this person treats me like dirt. he’s condescending and rude. he expects me to know his dept, when i am only doing my own job (im an expert at my own dept). recently, i asked him for something. it’s been a week, he has not responded. he is delaying my work! i emailed him to ask him if i should make an appointment with him again just so he can tell me a number that he already calculated (it would take him 5 mins!). nevertheless, he ignores my email cuz he’s a jerk. what should i do?!?!?! i need the number! i have been nice all the way through. he is the one who personally attacks me, yet he still continue to be rude!!!
my department = medicine

jerk’s department (bad guy)= math

my boss (good guy) = medicine

we are good at our own field… that’s why we hire. what is that jerk’s job then? he is very unreasonable!! please help! although he is unreasonable, we are dependent on him

even if i tell my boss, i dont think he cares. he just wants the numbers too! we kind of need the jerk.
the jerk is the chair of his department. he is in his 60s or 70s
i am in my 20s, just learning.
